What's the speed of the world's best swimmer ? May be 50 m in a time of 20.94s(Speed 8.568 kmph), a record by Frédérick Bousquet; also by legend of swimming Michael Phelps breaking 200m freestyle in 1.42 min (Speed 8.424 kmph). We feel these speeds are really too low, 'cause we are familiar only with speed of vehicles and not the speed of swimmers or fishes. It's actually has great magnitude for human scale. Have you ever paid your heed over the speeds of fishes? Well, the probability is too low. In fact, not even me. Let's know about speed of fishes, and who holds the gold medal for ground breaking speeds in aquatic life.
The fastest known fish is
Sailfish. Sailfish grows very quickly upto 1.2-1.5 mtrs long. They can cover 100m in just 4.8 seconds with a speed of 110 kmph(68 mph). That's almost the speed of an average normal vehicle. These fishes weigh about 90 kg.
